The Assemblies of God Statement of Fundamental Truths is a description of the sixteen core doctrines adhered to by the Assemblies of God. These doctrines are heavily based on the evangelical confessions of faith, but differ by being clearly Pentecostal. Of the sixteen, four are considered cardinal doctrines "essential to the church's core mission of reaching the world for Christ." The Brownsville Revival (also known as The Pensacola Outpouring) was a widely-reported religious phenomenon that began within the Pentecostal movement in 1995. The revival began unexpectedly at Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola, Florida on Father's Day. Pastor John Kilpatrick had invited evangelist Steve Hill to be the guest speaker for the day, and while Hill was ministering, many witnesses believe that the Holy Spirit began to manifest His power and that hundreds of people came to faith in Christ. Characteristics of the movement included repentance, a call to holiness and manifestations of the Holy Spirit very similar to those witnessed through the " Toronto blessing". Steve Hill (born 1954 in Huntsville, Alabama) is an American Christian clergyman and evangelist. He is best known as the evangelist who preached for more than five years in what became known as the Brownsville Revival, a series of meetings at Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola, Florida that began on Father's Day, 1995. Though the meetings continue today in a somewhat reduced form, the main part of the meeting is considered to have ended in June of 2000 when Hill moved to the Dallas, Texas area to resume travelling evangelism.
