Astronomical observatories The Air Force Maui Optical and Supercomputing (AMOS) observatory is an Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) operating location on Maui with a two-fold mission. First, it conducts the research and development mission on the Maui Space Surveillance System (MSSS) at the Maui Space Surveillance Complex (MSSC). Second, it oversees operation of the Maui High Performance Computing Center (MHPCC). AFRL's research and development mission on Maui was formally called AMOS; the use of the term AMOS has been widespread throughout the technical community for over thirty years and is still used today at many technical conferences. ...more on Wikipedia about "Air Force Maui Optical and Supercomputing observatory"
The Allen Telescope Array (ATA), formerly known as the One Hectare Telescope (1hT), is a joint effort by the SETI Institute and the Radio Astronomy Laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley to construct a radio interferometer that will be dedicated to astronomical and simultaneous search for extra-terrestrial intelligence observations. It is being constructed at the Hat Creek Radio Observatory, 290 miles northeast of San Francisco, California and will be composed of 350 antennas at completion. ...more on Wikipedia about "Allen Telescope Array"

Benmore Observatory is an amateur astronomical observatory is on a mountain near Omarama and is run by a mixture of paid and volunteer staff. Benmore observatory is also developing New Zealand's largest radio telescope array on land nearby in the Hidden valley. This site is extremely radio quiet with no detected sources of RFI. It is a large plain surrounded almost completely by mountains. It is also very dark and well suited for optical astronomy for those astronomers not wishing to travel to the top of Benmore mountain, which is quite high at almost 2,000 meters. The valley is sometimes filled with fog or covered by low cloud but Benmore is usually above it so the mountain is the superior site of the two for optical astronomy. ...more on Wikipedia about "Benmore Observatory"
The Berlin Observatory has its origins in 1700 when Gottfried Leibniz initiated the Brandenburgische Society which would later become Prussian Academy of Sciences. Although the original observatory was built in the outskits of the city, over the course of time the city expanded such that after two centuries the observatory was in the middle of other settlements which made making observations very difficult and a proposal to move the observatory was made. The observatory was moved to Babelsberg in 1913. ...more on Wikipedia about "Berlin Observatory"

The Dominion Observatory was an astronomical observatory in Ottawa, Canada that operated from 1905 to 1970. The Observatory was also an institution within the Canadian Federal Government. The observatory grew out of the Department of the Interior's need for the precise coordinates and timekeeping that at that time could only come from an observatory. For several years they had used a small observatory on the Ottawa River for this purpose. In 1902 it was decided that Canada needed a larger national observatory similar to the Royal Greenwich Observatory in Britain. ...more on Wikipedia about "Dominion Observatory"
