Paul Hinojos (born on July 17, 1975 in Los Angeles, California) was first introduced to the mainstream music scene as the bassist for the highly influential band At the Drive-In from El Paso, Texas. After At the Drive-In took an indefinite hiatus in 2001, Paul along with Jim Ward and Tony Hajjar from ATDI formed the band Sparta. Paul left Sparta in 2005, and a few days later announced that he had joined The Mars Volta, where he took up the role of 'sound manipulator' (previously occupied by Jim Ward's cousin Jeremy).
