The World Famous Bushman, also known as David Johnson, has been entertaining passers-by along Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, United States, for over twenty-five years. His act began in 1980 after he had grown tired of some of the other forms of performance art that are common along the Wharf, such as the silver robot performances. In his show, Johnson hides behind branches and waits for unsuspecting people to wander by. When they approach, he jumps out and startles them. He has become very popular, as audiences form daily to watch him. But with popularity comes the price of too many people being aware of him, so fewer people are startled by him.
