Carball is a mod for Unreal Tournament 2004. It originally started in 2004 with a small and rather buggy script written by Cliff Earl. New versions followed up quickly and he launched a site dedicated to Carball. With the community and server amount growing fast, people began visiting the forum he had put up on his site. The people gave in their ideas and tested the game. Cliff didn't do this by himself, as he had a bad internet connection. Beta testing had to be done online, because of the differences in karma UT2004 had between on-line and off-line. ...more on Wikipedia about "Carball"

Chex Quest is a total conversion of the computer game Doom. This game, notable for being the first video game ever to be included in cereal boxes as a prize, was found in boxes of Chex cereal in 1996 ** . In addition to the original game, Digital Cafe later made a sequel to Chex Quest called Chex Quest 2, which was only available for download on the Internet. Eventually the promotion ended and the game's availability effectively stalled until it was posted for download on fan pages several years later. A fanmade sequel, Chex Quest 3 was also mostly finished, and is available from Home of the Underdogs. This sequel's components, however, were all stolen from various sources, and the "authors" did nothing but compile them. Although a fourth had at one time been planned, it was never made, unless Chex Quest 4 is counted. However, since the author of Chex Quest 4 now refuses to let people distribute this sequel, it is generally not considered part of the Chex Quest fanon. Many .wad and Game Maker sequels were also made, such as Return of the Chex Warrior, Chex Quest Project, and the Chex Quest platformer. Almost all releases now run solely on the Doom Legacy engine. ...more on Wikipedia about "Chex Quest"

Doom WADs are mods for the computer game Doom or its sequel Doom II. Immediately after its release in 1993, Doom attracted a sizeable following of players who created their own WAD files — packages containing levels, graphics and other game data — and played a vital part in spawning the mod-making culture which is now commonplace for first-person shooters. Literally thousands of WADs, ranging from single custom levels to full original games, have been created for Doom; most of these can be downloaded for free over the Internet. Several WADs have also been released commercially, and for some people the WAD-making hobby became a gateway to a professional career as a level designer. ...more on Wikipedia about "Doom WAD"
