A 1-bit DAC is a term used in consumer electronics marketing to refer to oversampling digital-to-analog converters (DACs) that use an actual 1-bit DAC (that is, a simple "on/off" switch) in a delta-sigma loop operating at multiples of the sampling frequency. The combination is equivalent to a DAC with a larger number of bits (usually 16-20), therefore the 1-bit label is a bit of a misnomer. ...more on Wikipedia about "1-bit DAC"

A typical baby monitor, sometimes also known as a baby alarm, is a simplex (uni-directional) radio transmitter and receiver system used to remotely listen for noises made by an infant. The transmitter, equipped with a microphone, is placed near to the child and the receiver, equipped with a speaker, is carried by, or near to, the person caring for them at the time. Some baby monitors are duplex (bi-directional), using transceivers that allow the caregiver to communicate back to the baby, and some have a feature allowing music to be played on the transmitter (and thus played to the child). ...more on Wikipedia about "Baby monitor"

Calculator watches are watches with a calculator function which appeared in the early 1980s. The Japanese electronics company Casio produced a high quality version. Several other manufacturers made lower-quality, less durable models. Later, in the mid-1980s, Casio created the Data Bank calculator watch, which not only performed standard mathematical functions, but also stored appointments, names, addresses, and phone numbers. Currently, Casio sells an eData version of its Data Bank watch that features these aforementioned storage capabilities, but also has greater memory and the ability to store computer passwords. ...more on Wikipedia about "Calculator watch"

A custom car audio installation could mean anything from the upgrade of the radio to a full-blown customization of a car based around delivering exceptional sound quality or volume from audio equipment. ...more on Wikipedia about "Car audio"

In a variety of electronic equipments, a cartridge (in video game terms, cart, game pack, or Game Pak) can be one method of programming different functionality, providing variable content, or a method by which consumables may be replenished. The term cartridge tends to be applied loosely to a large range of techniques which conform to this general description. In general the term tends to mean any detachable sub-unit that is held within its own container. The term cassette has a similar meaning. ...more on Wikipedia about "Cartridge (electronics)"

A cassette deck is a type of tape deck for playing or recording compact audio cassettes. The cassette recorder was introduced by the Philips Corporation in 1963 and marketed in 1965 as an improvement over reel-to-reel recorders designed for portable use. It enclosed both reels of the recording tape in a small case which eliminated the need to thread the tape through individual reels. The tape width was just 0.125 inches (3.2 mm) and tape speed was 1.875 inches (4.76 cm) per second, which meant that sound quality was appropriate only for voice or dictation use at the time. In 1971, the Advent Corporation combined Dolby B-type tape-hiss-noise reduction system with chromium dioxide tape to create the Advent Model 201, the first high-fidelity cassette deck. This deck was an OEM unit manufactured by Nakamichi. ...more on Wikipedia about "Cassette deck"

A component speaker is a car audio speaker matched for optimal sound quality. Typically a pair of tweeters and mid- bass drivers are matched with a crossover to limit the frequency range each speaker must accurately reproduce. Component speakers drivers are physicaly seperated so the tweeter, which is very directional, can be placed in a optimal position, usualy on the dash facing the listener, while the larger mid-bass driver can be placed where there is room, often in the lower front of the car doors. Component speaker pairs are offered by all of the high-end audio manufacturers. ...more on Wikipedia about "Component speaker"

A cordless telephone or portable telephone is a telephone with a wireless handset which communicates with a base station connected to a fixed telephone landline ( POTS) via radio waves and can only be operated close to (typically less than 100 metres of) its base station, such as in and around the house. Unlike a standard telephone, a cordless telephone needs household mains electricity to power the base station. The cordless handset is powered by a battery which is recharged by the base station when the handset is connected to the base station when not in use. Over time, the battery may need to be replaced as it does not get recharged properly or for a sufficient amount of time. Typically, cordless handset batteries last for about an year although much depends on how frequently it is charged-discharged and also the average usage. Once a month, one should leave the handset off the base station so that the battery is completely discharged before getting charged again (unless the manual gives other instructions). Also, the charge contacts on both the base and the handset should occasionally be cleaned with a pencil eraser. There are also some advanced cordless phone systems that can operate without power. In the event of a power outage, the phone will convert itself into a standard telephone that gets its power from the landline. However, in this mode, only a handset attached directly to the base could work. All wireless handsets would not function. ...more on Wikipedia about "Cordless telephone"
