Alexander Alexandrovich Friedman or Friedmann (Александр Александрович Фридман) ( June 16 1888 – September 16 1925) was a Russian cosmologist and mathematician. He discovered the expanding-universe solution to general relativity field equations in 1922, which was proved by Edwin Hubble's observations in 1929. (Ferguson, 1991: 67). Friedmann's 1924 papers, including "Über die Möglichkeit einer Welt mit konstanter negativer Krümmung des Raumes" (On the possibility of a world with constant negative curvature of space) published by the German physics journal Zeitschrift für Physik (Vol. 21, pp. 326-332), demonstrated that he had command of all three Friedmann models describing positive, zero and negative curvature respectively, a decade before Robertson and Walker published their analysis. ...more on Wikipedia about "Alexander Alexandrovich Friedman"

Dr. Linde is best known for his work on the concept of the inflationary universe. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Moscow State University. In 1975, Linde was awarded a Ph.D. from the Lebedev Physical Institute in Moscow. Among the various awards he's received for his work on inflation, in 2002 he was awarded the Dirac Medal, along with Alan Guth of MIT and Paul Steinhardt of Princeton University. ...more on Wikipedia about "Andrei Linde"

Arthur Geoffrey Walker ( 17 July 1909 - 31 March 2001) was a leading mathematician and cosmologist. He was born in Watford, Hertfordshire, England. Edward W. Kolb, usually known as Rocky Kolb, is a cosmologist at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory and a professor at the University of Chicago. He has worked on many aspects of the big bang cosmology, including baryogenesis, nucleosynthesis and dark matter. He is author, with Michael Turner, of the popular textbook The Early Universe (Addison-Wesley, 1990). ...more on Wikipedia about "Edward Kolb"

Edwin Powell Hubble ( November 20, 1889 – September 28, 1953) was an American astronomer, noted for his discovery of galaxies beyond the Milky Way and the cosmic red shift. Edwin Hubble was one of the first to argue that the red shift of distant galaxies is due to the Doppler effect induced by the expansion of the universe. He was one of the leading astronomers of modern times and laid down the foundation upon which physical cosmology now rests. ...more on Wikipedia about "Edwin Hubble"
