(African-American) An African American (also Afro-American, Black American, or simply black), is a member of an ethnic group in the United States whose ancestors, usually in predominant part, were indigenous to Africa. Many African Americans have European and/or Native American ancestry as well. The term refers specifically to black African ancestry; not, for example, to white or Arab African ancestry, such as Moroccan or white South African ancestry. Blacks from non-African countries such as Haiti, Cuba, or Australia are theoretically referred to by their nation of origin and not African American, but in general the assumption is that if you are black, you are "African American". ...more on Wikipedia about "African-American"

"Black" in this context is an ethno-racial classification label applied to certain human populations. The term was spawned by the European colonization and conquest of non-Europeans. It solidified into popular culture during the enlightenment as one of the four major categories into which European philosophers tried to organize the newly discovered human diversity. The categories were based upon skin tone as perceived by Europeans of the time: Red (Native Americans), Yellow (East Asians), White (Europeans), and Black (Africans). Today, the term's usage differs slightly among former European colonies. Latin Americans, former members of the British Empire, and Americans (USA) all use the term differently. The term is most often applied today in three ways. First, it denotes people who are seen as part of the African Diaspora. Second, it is also applied to native non-European people lacking African ancestry but who were labeled as "Black" by their colonizers. Third, it has been internalized as an ethno-political rallying label by leaders of oppressed and marginalized populations in several regions around the world. A fourth criterion (who "looks black") is less useful because it is subjective. ...more on Wikipedia about "Black (people)"

Botocudo (from Portuguese for botoque, a plug, in allusion, to the wooden disks or plugs worn in their lips and ears), is the foreign name for a tribe of South American Indians of eastern Brazil, also known as the Aimorés or Aimborés. They appeared to have no collective tribal name for themselves. Some called themselves Nacnanuk or Nac-poruk, meaning "sons of the soil". The name Botocudo cannot be traced much farther back than the writings of Prince Maximilian zu Wied-Neuwied in 1820, who participated in a scientific expedition to Brazil. When the Portuguese adventurer Vasco Fernando Coutinho reached the east coast of Brazil in 1535, he erected a fort at the head of Espírito Santo Bay to defend himself against the Aimorés and other tribes. ...more on Wikipedia about "Botocudo"

Ilois or Îlois (also known as Chagossians) are a group of Creole-speaking people, mostly of Indian descent (along with populations from Madagascar, Mauritius, and Mozambique). They inhabited the island of Diego Garcia and other parts of the Chagos Archipelago for a more than a century. Most arrived as fishermen, farmers, and coconut plantation workers during the 19th century, while the very first Ilois were probably brought to the Archipelago as slaves by the French in 1776. The Ilois, numbering some 2000 people at the time, were expelled by the British government between 1967 and 1973, first to the island of Peros Banhos, 100 miles away from their homeland, and then, in 1973, to Mauritius (For the relationship between the Chagos Archipelago and Mauritius, see Chagos Archipelago). Their forced (and, according to some authorities, illegal) expulsion and dispossession was for the purpose of establishing a US air and naval base on Diego Garcia, where a small contingent of U.K. military personnel are stationed as well. ...more on Wikipedia about "Ilois"
