Bernadette Ganilau, born as Bernadette Rounds, is a Fijian writer, broadcaster, and political activist. Her causes include women's rights and human rights in general. In June and July 2005, she has been campaigning against the government's controversial Reconciliation, Tolerance, and Unity Bill, which proposes to establish a Commission with the power to compensate victims and pardon perpetrators of the Fiji coup of 2000. Colonel Meli Saubulinayau is a Fijian career soldier, who currently heads the Strategic Unit in Suva. He was appointed to this post at the beginning of January 2006.
