Chuao is a small village located in the northern coastal range of Venezuela. It was founded in the 16th century. The village is famous for its cacao plantations where some of the finest cocoa beans in the world are produced. The village is surrounded by mountains and dense rainforests in its south side, and by the Caribbean Sea on its northern side. The Deltaic System (Sistema Deltáico) is one of the nine geographical regions into which Venezuela is divided. It is located in the whole extension of Delta Amacuro State and a few kilometers of Monagas State, comprehending the totality of the mouths of the Orinoco. It is carachterized by being non-centric, lagoon lacking, and oceanic, somewhat similar to the delta of the Niger River.
