Geological features on the Moon The Fra Mauro formation on the Moon is the location of the planned Apollo 13, and eventual Apollo 14, landing site. It is named after the 80-kilometer-diameter Fra Mauro crater, located within it. ...more on Wikipedia about "Fra Mauro formation"
A lunar dome is a type of shield volcano that is found on the surface of the Earth's moon. They are typically formed by highly viscous, possibly silica-rich lava, erupting from localized vents followed by relatively slow cooling. Lunar domes are wide, rounded, circular features with a gentle slope rising in elevation a few hundred meters to the mid-point. They are typically 8-12 km in diameter, but can be up to 20 km across. Some of the domes contain a small craterlet at the peak. ...more on Wikipedia about "Lunar dome"
Reiner Gamma (γ) is an albedo feature that is located on the Oceanus Procellarum, to the west of the Reiner crater on the Moon. The center of the formation is located at selenographic coordinates: 7.5° North, 59.0° West. It has an overall dimension of about 70 kilometers. The feature has a higher albedo than the relatively dark mare surface, with a diffuse appreance and a distinctive swirling, concentric oval shape. Related albedo features continue across the surface to the east and southwest, forming loop-like patterns over the maria. ...more on Wikipedia about "Reiner Gamma"
A rille is used to describe any of the long, narrow depressions in the lunar surface that resemble channels. Typically a rille can be up to several kilometers wide and hundreds of kilometers in length. The term was derived from the German word for furrow or groove, and was most likely introduced by the astronomer Johann Schröter in his Selenographische Fragmente. The latin terms rima or rimae are also (more accurately) used for naming a rille or rilles. ...more on Wikipedia about "Rille"
Rimae Sirsalis is a lunar rille, an open lava channel or a collapsed lava tube on the Moon. It is located at 15.7S, 61.7W and is 426km long. ...more on Wikipedia about "Rimae Sirsalis"
Rupes Recta is a linear fault on the Moon, in the southeastern part of the Mare Nubium. The name is latin for "Straight Fault", although it is more commonly called the Straight Wall. This is the most well-known escarpment feature on the Moon, and is a popular target for amateur astronomers. ...more on Wikipedia about "Rupes Recta"
A wrinkle-ridge is a type of feature commonly found on Lunar mares. These features are low, sinuous ridges formed on the maria surface that can extend for up to several hundred kilometers. The wrinkle-ridges are tectonic features created when the basaltic- lava first cooled and contracted. They frequently outline ring structures buried within the mare; follow circular patterns outlining the mare, or intersect protruding peaks. They are sometimes called veins due to their resemblance to the veins that protrude from beneath the skin. ...more on Wikipedia about "Wrinkle-ridge" Tell your opinion about http://www.shortopedia.com Geological_features_on_the_Moon
