Gilman is a former town located in southeastern Eagle County, Colorado in the United States. Founded in 1886 during the Colorado Silver Boom, the town later became a center of lead and zinc mining in Colorado, centered around the now-flooded Eagle Mine. It was abandoned in 1984 by order of the Environmental Protection Agency ** because of toxic pollutants, including contamination of the ground water, as well as unprofitability of the mines. It is currently a ghost town on private property and is strictly off limits to the public. Ludlow is a former town located in Las Animas County, Colorado in the United States. Now a ghost town, the town was famous as the site of the Ludlow Massacre in 1914. The town site is nestled at the entrance to a canyon in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It is located along the western side of Interstate 25 approximately 12 miles (19 km) north of the town of Trinidad. Manhattan is a former town and current ghost town located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in northwestern Larimer County, Colorado in the United States. The town was founded in 1886 as gold mining camp, during the height of the Colorado Silver Boom. It was situated at an elevation of 8700 feet, located north of the Poudre Canyon and west of Red Feather Lakes, about halfway between Elkhorn Creek and Seven Mile Creek, in the valley of small tributary of Elkhorn Creek called Manhattan Creek. The town never experienced great prosperity, however, and had largely vanished by the early 20th century.
