Jacob (or Jacques) van Thienen was a Flemish architect of the early 15th century (the dates of his birth and death are unknown). He is believed to have designed the spectacular Gothic Hotel de Ville (town hall) of Brussels in Belgium circa 1402. The building, which stands in the city's Grand Place, is widely regarded as a masterpiece of medieval European secular architecture. Simone da Orsenigo was an archetect and builder of the fourteenth century. Hailing from Lombardy, he was most likely a native of Orsenigo, near Como. Orsenigo is remembered mostly for his work on the Cathedral of Milan. On a 1387 list of masters working on the Duomo, his name comes immediately after that of Marco da Campione, who headed the associates.
