The Don't Make a Wave Committee was formed in October 1969 in Vancouver, Canada to protest and attempt to halt underground nuclear testing by the United States in the National Wildlife refuge at Amchitka in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. The name of the committee was reputed to have come from a placard which said Don't Make a Wave. It's Your Fault if Our Fault Goes. Kleercut is the name of an active campaign conducted by Greenpeace, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and the Environmental Direct Action Network towards the Kimberly-Clark Corporation. Kimberly-Clark is the world’s largest manufacturer of tissue products, most notably the Kleenex brand. Its products are a source of controversy because they are partly derived from pulp and paper from old growth forests. The corporation has been alleged to have participated in the clear-cutting of such forests in Canada and the United States, including forests that are home to threatened wildlife like the woodland caribou and wolverine.
