Ohio Northern University was founded by Henry Solomon Lehr in Ada, Ohio in 1871. It was originally known as Ohio Normal University. Approximately 3,400 students attend, in the colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering, Law, and Pharmacy. The school mascot is a Polar Bear named Klondike. The central part of Ohio Northern University's campus is referred to as the Tundra, a double entendre stemming from the school mascot and a jab at what some see as its general barren and snow covered state.
