Homeworld series

In the game Homeworld, the Kushan people are a race of survivors sent into exile thousands of light-years from their homeworld, the planet Hiigara. In the process of returning, several thousand years later, they are attacked by the Taiidan Empire and forced to adapt and build a military capable of fighting off the outside threat posed by their attackers. The first defence against threats, even before the appearance of the Taiidan, was the "Arrow"-class Light Interceptor, better known as the scout. ...more on Wikipedia about "Arrow Light Interceptor"

This is the title the Bentusi give to themselves, indicating a sense of pride in the race's lack of a home planet or perhaps some other aspect. In Homeworld: Cataclysm it is hinted that Unbound may actually refer to freedom from organic restraints, perhaps contributing to a higher sense of being. They refer quite obviously (though out of context) to Karan Sjet who they call Unbound. Because of this, many fans believe that the term Unbound may possess more than one meaning and may mean more than the 'mere' ability to travel through space at faster-than-light speeds. It may also refer to how she was physically integrated into the Mothership, much like the Bentusi are with their ships. When The Beast entity attempts to consume a Bentusi vessel in Homeworld: Cataclysm, the Bentusi self-destruct. They are completely disgusted and repulsed by the Beast's infection, refusing to be "bound". ...more on Wikipedia about "Bentusi"

In the fictional Homeworld Universe, cryo trays (properly styled cryogenic trays) are used to describe long mechanical cargo containers each full of 100,000 cryo pods, pods full of living people frozen at extremely low temperatures using cryogenic technology. Stored for as many years as twelve these people are men and women of the Kushan people who have bought, earned, or somehow else gotten a ticket for the first journey to Hiigara. These people, who were thought to simply be extraordinarily rich or adventerous turned out ironically to be the only remnants of the Kushan people other than the actual Mothership Fleet's crew by the end of the Homeworld War. ...more on Wikipedia about "Cryo Trays"

One of the Taiidan Empire's warships deployed against the Kushan in 1999's Game of the Year Homeworld is the "Diirvaas"-class Multi-Gun (aka Multigun) Corvette. This craft, designed explicitly for handling large amounts of enemy starfighters was relatively successfully employed against the Kushan who relied heavily on cheaper strikecraft. As such it was no large surprise that this design continued to be used even after the Homeworld War was lost and the Taiidan fleet was effectively proved outdated. ...more on Wikipedia about "Diirvaas Multigun Corvette"

The "Firelance"-class Ion Cannon Frigate (ICF) was developed by the Kushan using technology purchased from the Bentusi. Instead, there is just the basic frigate chassis with a long particle accelerator unit, a fusion power plant, the engine, and crew space. ...more on Wikipedia about "Firelance ICF"

The "Hammer"-class Heavy Corvette of the Kushan from the computer game Homeworld was designed almost immediately after its predecessor, the " Cavalier. Hiigara is a word from an ancient language in the computer game Homeworld, "a word more ancient than the clans themselves". The word means 'home' and is the official name of the titular homeworld the game's characters seek. It is the only word which all the languages of Kharak have in common, illustrating its ancient, binding origin for the Kushan (inhabitants of Kharak). The real-life origin of this concocted word may be related to the Islamic word Hegira, referring to the Prophet Muhammed's historic flight from Mecca to Medina. This adds to the Middle-Eastern/Islamic feel and theme of the game. ...more on Wikipedia about "Hiigara"
