The Burj al-Arab ( Arabic برج العرب "Tower of the Arabs") is a luxury hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates ( ). At 321 metres (1,053 feet), it is the tallest building used exclusively as a hotel and one of the most distinctive structures for a hotel building in the world. It stands in the sea on an artificial island 280 metres (919 feet) away from the beach in the Persian Gulf, connected to the mainland only by a path. The hotel includes 40 luxury suites and is operated by the Jumeirah International Group. Connected with 54 floor Emirates Office Tower by a retail boulevard they form what is commonly refered to as the Emirates Towers complex. At a structural height of 1,014 ft (305 m) Emirates Towers Hotel is the smaller of the two of the sister towers but still ranks as the 24th tallest currently-standing structure in the world and one of the tallest hotels in the world.
