Uncontacted peoples is a term that refers to people who by choice or chance live without significant contact with the larger civilizations of the world. Few peoples have remained totally uncontacted by modern civilisation. However, a number have chosen to make contact with them either exceedingly difficult or dangerous. Many indigenous rights activists call for such groups to be left alone, in respect of their right to self determination. Others also point to the frequently deadly consequences of diseases to which most uncontacted peoples have little or no immunity. In Asia, tribes of the Andaman Islands, most notably the Sentinelese, continue to refuse contact with the outside world. There are several uncontacted tribes in Papua and Amazonia (including the Tagaeri band of Huaorani and Kirineri, Nahua and Nanti peoples in the Nahua-Kugapakori Reserve). ...more on Wikipedia about "Uncontacted peoples"
