AIM Fight was written by two programmers "with a little bit too much free time on their hands ** " and copyrighted by America Online. The concept behind AIM Fight is to determine who is more popular right this second. To do this, two screen names are entered into the webpage and then each screen name is run through an algorithm that runs through the buddy lists of everybody signed on at the moment and returns a score that represents the sum of the number of people who have those screen names listed as a buddy out to the third degree. As explained on their website , the score cannot increase by adding people to that user's buddy list, but rather having other people add the user to their buddy list. Depending on how well-connected these people are, the increase in the score can vary. For example, if somebody adds a screen name to their buddy list and that person is only on the buddy list of seven people, the score is not likely to increase much. However, if somebody adds a screen name to their buddy list and that person is on the buddy lists of over 300 people, the score is most likely to make a large increase. ...more on Wikipedia about "AIM Fight"

Most people who engage in file sharing are also downloading files that other users share. Sometimes these two activities are linked together. P2P File sharing is distinct from file trading in that downloading files from a P2P network does not require uploading, although some networks either provide incentives for uploading such as credits or force the sharing of files being currently downloaded. ...more on Wikipedia about "File sharing"
