Institute of Forest SB RAS is the first academic institution of forest profile in this country. It was founded in 1944 in Moscow by an outstanding native biologist academician Vladimir Nikolayevich Sukachev. The institute was named after him in 1967. The Urban Land Institute, or ULI, is a non-profit organization with offices in Washington, D.C. and London. It was founded in 1936 and currently has over 28,000 members.
