Provincial parks in Ontario are administered by Ontario Parks, a division of the Ministry of Natural Resources. (See List of Canadian provincial parks for other province's parks.) The Ontario Parks system covers over 77 000 square kilometres (27 169 mi²), an area approximately equal to Nova Scotia. The Ontario Parks system is often used as the model for other parks systems in North America and is one of the best in the world. This can be attributed to its delicate balance of recreation, precervation, and conservation. Many parks in Ontario also offer a Natural Heritage Education program. The Ontario Parks system began its long and rough history back in 1892 with the creation of Algonquin National Park, originally designed to protect loggers interests from settlement, the park later on became a provincial park under the Department of Lands and Forests until the 1970's when the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources was formed. ...more on Wikipedia about "List of Ontario parks"
