Thomas F. Goreau (born in Germany, died 1970 in Jamaica) was an American marine biologist who worked extensively on the coral reefs of Jamaica. He flew from Nazi Germany in the 1930s into the United States, studied at Clark University and worked on ecology in Yale University. In 1951 he went to lecture at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica, and in 1956 he founded a long-term research project exploring the coral reefs of Jamaica. In 1969 or 1970 he opened the marine laboratory at Discovery Bay, Jamaica. His widow, Nora I. Goreau, and son Thomas J.
