A ball mill, a type of crusher, is a cylindrical device used to grind (or mix) materials like ores, chemicals, ceramics and paints. Ball mills rotate around a horizontal axis, partially filled with the material to be ground plus the grinding medium, mostly stainless steel balls. An internal cascading effect reduces the material to a fine powder. Industrial ball mills can operate continuously, fed at one end and discharged at the other. Large to medium ball mills are mechanically rotated on their axis, but small ones normally consist of a cylindrical capped container that sits on two drive shafts ( pulleys and belts are used to transmit rotary motion). A rock tumbler is a similar device. Ball mills are also used in pyrotechnics and the making of black powder. ...more on Wikipedia about "Ball mill"
A disc mill, is a type of crusher that can be used to grind, cut, shear, shred, fiberize, pulverize, granulate, crack, rub, curl, fluff, twist, hull, blend, or refine. It works in a similar manner to the ancient Buhrstone mill in that the feedstock is fed between opposing discs or plates. The discs may be grooved, serrated, or spiked. ...more on Wikipedia about "Disc mill"
The flour mill or grist mill is a kind of mill which is fed grain and makes flour. Modern mills use serrated and flat cast iron rollers to separate the bran and germ from the endosperm. The endosperm is ground to create white flour which may be recombined with the bran and germ to create whole wheat or graham flour. ...more on Wikipedia about "Flour mill"

A horse-mill is a mill that uses a horse as the power source. Any milling process can be powered in this way, but the most frequent use of animal power in horse-mills was for grinding grain and pumping water. Other animals used for powering mills include dogs, donkeys and oxen. These are all forms of animal engines. Man, can also be considered to be an animal, and engines powered by man include treadwheels. ...more on Wikipedia about "Horse mill" Come again to shortopedia Mills

The Pillsbury "A" Mill, situated along Saint Anthony Falls on the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was once the largest flour mill in the world. It was operated by Pillsbury and used two of the most powerful direct-drive waterwheels ever built, each putting out 1,200 horsepower (895 kW). Over time, several neighboring structures were added. The building has ceased operation as a mill, and plans are in place to convert it into a loft-style apartment complex containing 759 to 1,095 housing units. Some of the neighboring concrete grain elevators will be demolished in the project. ...more on Wikipedia about "Pillsbury "A" Mill"
A treadwheel is a form of Animal engine powered by man. It resembles a Waterwheel in appearance, and can be worked either by a man treading paddles set into its circumference (a treadmill), or by a man standing inside it. Uses of treadwheels included raising water, or to power cranes. They were also used in prisons as a form of punishment, as well as to pump water or grind grain. A treadwheel was also used in a submarine in 1851 to pump air to change buoyancy and thus make the vessel dive or rise. ...more on Wikipedia about "Treadwheel"
Watson's Mill is a historic gristmill in Manotick, Ontario. It was built as the Long Island Flouring Mills by Moss Kent Dickinson and Joseph Merrill Currier. It was one of a series of mills constructed in the area using power from the Rideau Canal. It earned its current name when it was purchased by Harry Watson in 1946. The mill remained in operation until 1972 when it was sold to the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority. They restored the mill to its 1860 condition and turned it into a museum and gift shop. It is Manotick's most notable landmark, and the mill's image is used as a symbol for the village. The mill is also well known for stories of it being haunted by the ghost of Annie Currier, wife of Joseph, who died in an accident there in 1861. ...more on Wikipedia about "Watson's Mill"
