Mark O. Barton ( 1955 - July 29, 1999) was a spree killer from Stockbridge, Georgia, who, on July 29, 1999, shot and killed nine people and injured 13 more. The shootings occurred at two Atlanta day trading firms -- Momentum Securities and the All-Tech Investment Group. It is believed that Barton was motivated by $105,000 USD in losses over the previous two months. Barton committed suicide four hours later at an Acworth gas station, having been spotted by the police. Michael Robert Ryan, on 19 August 1987, armed with several weapons including an AK-47 rifle, went on a mass murder spree that became known as the Hungerford massacre and led to major changes to firearms law in the United Kingdom following the Hungerford Report. Ryan's spree culminated in a siege at his former school, where he endured much bullying as a boy. At 6:52, police reported hearing a slightly muffled gunshot from inside the building. After making the decision to enter the school, they found Ryan in one of the classrooms behind a file cabinet and some chairs, dead from a self-inflicted wound. He had used the last bullet in his weapon. William Freund (c. 1986 – October 29, 2005) was a nineteen year old male who donned a cape and ski mask and went on a shooting rampage in the city of Aliso Viejo, California. He shot and killed two people before going home and killing himself by shooting himself in the torso. Before going on the rampage, he is said to have posted his plans on the online Asperger's Syndrome message board wrongplanet.net. He also posted on the message board of the comedy website Something Awful under the alias "forbiddenforum" asking for information on where to buy buckshot ammunition. Forum members responded with information, then derision as he claimed that he was going to be shooting at people attempting to vandalize his Halloween pumpkins. The thread was closed a few days before his shooting spree. He also posted on AnandTech but never commented on suicide or his plans to kill.
