Natural gas

Acid gas or Sour gas, also sour acid gas or acid sour gas, is natural gas which contains up to 20% hydrogen sulfide contaminant by weight. It may also contain the aromatic hydrocarbons benzene, toluene, mixed xylenes and ethylbenzene. See natural gas condensate. ...more on Wikipedia about "Acid gas"

The Argentine energy crisis was a natural gas supply shortage experienced by Argentina in 2004. After the recession triggered by the economic crisis and ending in 2002, Argentina's energy demands grew quickly as industry recovered, but extraction and transportation of natural gas, a cheap and relatively abundant fossil fuel, did not match the surge. ...more on Wikipedia about "Argentine energy crisis (2004)"

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is a substitute for gasoline (petrol) or diesel fuel. It is considered to be an environmentally "clean" alternative to those fuels. It is made by compressing purified natural gas, and is typically stored and distributed in hard containers. ...more on Wikipedia about "Compressed natural gas"

El Paso Corporation, headquartered in Houston, Texas, provides natural gas and related energy products and is one of North America's largest independent natural gas producers. ...more on Wikipedia about "El Paso Corporation"

The Fredonia Gas Light Company, founded in 1858, was the first natural gas company in the United States. It was founded by a group of entrepreneurs after William Hart, considered the "father of natural gas" in the U.S., drilled in 1821 the first natural gas well in American along a creek in Fredonia, New York. The well was approximately 27 feet deep; by contrast, modern wells are over 30,000 feet deep. ...more on Wikipedia about "Fredonia Gas Light Company"

Liquefied natural gas or LNG is natural gas that has been processed to remove impurities and heavy hydrocarbons and then condensed into a liquid at atmospheric pressure by cooling it to approximately -160 degrees Celsius. LNG is transported by specially designed vessels and stored in specially designed tanks. LNG is about 1/640th the volume of natural gas at standard temperature and pressure (STP), making it much more cost-efficient to transport over long distances where pipelines don't exist. Where moving natural gas by pipelines is not possible or economical, it can be transported by LNG vessels, where the most common tank types are membrane or moss. ...more on Wikipedia about "Liquefied natural gas"

An LNG carrier is a ship designed for transporting liquefied natural gas. As the LNG market is growing rapidly in the present decade, the fleet of LNG carriers is also growing rapidly. ...more on Wikipedia about "LNG carrier"

Methane clathrate, also called methane hydrate or methane ice, is a form of water ice that contains a large amount of methane within its crystal structure (a clathrate hydrate). Originally thought to occur only in the outer regions of the solar system where temperatures are low and water ice is common, extremely large deposits of methane clathrates have been found under sediments on the ocean floors of Earth. Methane clathrates are common constituents of the shallow marine geosphere, and they occur both in deep sedimentary structures, and as outcrops on the ocean floor. Methane hydrates are believed to form by migration of gas from depth along geological faults, followed by precipitation, or crystallization, on contact of the rising gas stream with cold sea water. ...more on Wikipedia about "Methane clathrate"

Natural gas (commonly referred to as gas in many countries, but note that gas is also an American and Canadian shortening of gasoline) is a gaseous fossil fuel consisting primarily of methane. It is found in oil fields and natural gas fields, as well as—in smaller quantities—in coal beds. ...more on Wikipedia about "Natural gas"

Natural Gas Condensate (usually just condensate) is a by-product of natural gas. Hydrocarbon fractions which are liquid at STP can, if sufficiently light, become gaseous at the high pressures of natural gas fields. ...more on Wikipedia about "Natural gas condensate"

Natural gas liquids are the liquids that, combined with methane, form natural gas. The liquids consist of ethane, propane, butane, isobutane and natural gasoline These liquids are used as petrochemical feedstocks, home heating fuels and refinery blending. ...more on Wikipedia about "Natural gas liquids"

A Natural gas vehicle or NGV is a vehicle that uses compressed natural gas (CNG) or, less commonly, liquified natural gas (LNG)) as a clean alternative to other automobile fuels. Worldwide, there are roughly 4 million NGVs as of 2004, with the largest number of NGVs in Argentina, Brazil, and Pakistan. They are also popular in Italy and Germany. ...more on Wikipedia about "Natural gas vehicle"

A stranded gas reserve is a natural gas field that has been discovered, but remains unusable for either physicial or economic reasons. Gas that is found within oil wells is also conventionally regarded as stranded and has historically been flared. It is also now sometimes recirculated back into oil wells in order to maintain extraction pressure or converted into electricity using gas powered engines. ...more on Wikipedia about "Stranded gas reserve"
