Neighbourhoods of Warsaw

Grochów is a suburb of Warsaw, officially part of the borough of Praga Południe. Currently it is one of the most notable residential areas of right-bank Warsaw. It is heavily built up with blocks of flats. However, there are still many houses remembering the times from before the Second World War and lots of green areas, which brought to the whole Grochów the name of the lungs of Warsaw. Kabaty is the southernmost neighborhood of the city of Warsaw, located in its Ursynów district. Until the late 1980s it was a small village located south of Warsaw, between Warsaw and the Kabaty Woods. The area's most notable landmark is the Kabaty Palace, a manor which from 1937 housed the General Staff's Cipher Bureau, which among other things read German Enigma ciphers, originally solved in December 1932 at the General Staff building — the Saxon Palace — on Warsaw's Saxon, now Piłsudski, Square. Natolin is a historical park and nature reserve (1.2 km²) on the Southern edge of Warsaw, Poland. It is also the name of a neighbourhood located to the west of the park. Until the 1980s it was a small village located right outside of the city limits. After that it was urbanized with large blocks of flats. Wierzbno is one of the neighbourhoods in Warsaw, a part of the borough of Mokotów. It was named in the 1930's after a village of the same name that had existed there since 17th century. Until 1960's Wierzbno was one of the southern suburbs of the city. After that it was urbanized with blocks of flats and a number of notable offices and facilities was located there, including the main seat of the Polish Television and the Polish Radio, as well as one of the tram yards.
