Neuro-Linguistic Programming concepts and methods

Anchoring is a neuro-linguistic programming term for the process by which memory recall, state change or other responses become associated with (anchored to) some stimulus, in such a way that perception of the stimulus (the anchor) leads by reflex to the anchored response occurring. The stimulus may be quite neutral or even out of conscious awareness, and the response may be either positive or negative. They are capable of being formed and reinforced by repeated stimuli, and thus are analogous to classical conditioning. In classical terms, the anchor effect is probably a mixture of stimulus-response, and expectation (and for deliberately created anchors, possibly the placebo effect). ...more on Wikipedia about "Anchor (NLP)"

(As-if (NLP)) "As if" is an extremely common NLP presupposition (technically often called a "frame" or context reframe). Its intent is to make it easier for a person to explore possibilities and ideas internally, which would usually not be as available to them due to their limiting beliefs about themselves or others. The specific effect sought is to allow a person's limiting beliefs to be temporarily set aside for the purpose of exploring alternate posibilities, without having to threaten or challenge their existing conceptual world-view in the process. ...more on Wikipedia about "As-if (NLP)"

Brief therapy, sometimes also known as strategic therapy, is an umbrella term for a type of approach to psychotherapy. It differs from other schools of therapy in that it emphasises direct and strategic intervention, whereby the therapist takes responsibility for working more pro-actively with the client, in order to treat clinical and subjective conditions faster under some circumstance. It also emphasises precision observation, utilization, and temporary suspension of disbelief to consider new perspectives and multiple viewpoints. ...more on Wikipedia about "Brief therapy"

Deep trance identification comes from the work of Milton Erickson, where a profound hypnotic trance is induced and within that, a person is led to recollect everything they have ever known or seen of a person, and then to "step into" and identify with them completely, experiencing their world completely. In such a state, it is said, the unconscious mind creates its own rich understandings by sidestepping the need for conscious analysis. ...more on Wikipedia about "Deep trance identification"

Double Bind is a communicative situation where a person receives different or contradictory messages. The term was coined by the anthropologist Gregory Bateson, and was an attempt to suggest a possible mechanism or underpinning for schizophrenia from an anti-biologist perspective (in other words to proffer an explanation without requiring the assumption of organic brain dysfunction). The phenomenon itself was functionally observed in its negative sense, and utilised in a therapeutic context, by Milton Erickson. The Double bind is based on paradox turned to contradiction. ...more on Wikipedia about "Double bind"

Future pacing is a technique of asking a person to imagine doing something in the future and observing their reactions. It is typically used to either check that a change process has been successful by observing body language when the person imagines being in a difficult situation before and after an intervention. If the body language is the same then the intervention has not been successful. You can also use future pacing to "embed" change into the future - to give the person an experience of dealing positively with a situation before they get into the same situation again. The idea is that when they are then in the situation the previous experience will serve as a model for how to behave, even though the previous experience was imagined. ...more on Wikipedia about "Future Pacing"

Life lines stem from a neuro-linguistic programming principle that in order to perform some kinds of inner exploration with full commitment, one must let go of various limits and beliefs that are needed day-to-day, and which may be dangerous or psychologically difficult to set aside. ...more on Wikipedia about "Life line"

The Milton Model was co-created by John Grinder and Richard Bandler by modeling the hypnotic techniques of Milton H. Erickson. It is considered to be the direct reverse set of the Metamodel. The Milton Model and Metamodel form the base of Neuro-Linguistic Programming. ...more on Wikipedia about "Milton Model"

NLP modeling (or modelling) is a process used in neuro-linguistic programming NLP proponents claim is used to discover and codify patterns of excellence as demonstrated consistently by top performers in any field, ideally via direct experience (although modeling from books, historical records of people's words, or video is not unknown). It can be thought of as the process of discovering relevant distinctions within these experiential components, as well as relevant sequencing of these components necessary to achieve a specific result. ...more on Wikipedia about "Modeling (NLP)"

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a collection of self-help recommendations, promoted through the popular psychology and self development sections of bookshops, and advertised in various media including the Internet and infomercials. ...more on Wikipedia about "Neuro-linguistic programming"

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is the name of a set of models and principles proposed in 1973 by Richard Bandler and John Grinder to describe the relationship between mind (neuro) and language (linguistic, both verbal and non-verbal) and how their interaction might be organized (programming) to affect an individual's mind, body and behavior. It is described by the original developers as "therapeutic magic" and "the study of the structure of subjective experience" (Sharpley 1987) (Dilts et al 1980), and is predicated upon the assumption that all behaviors have a practically determinable structure (Grinder & Bandler 1975a; ** ). ...more on Wikipedia about "Neuro-linguistic programming/Working" It must be http://www.shortopedia.com. The technique of reframing in NLP involves confirming positive intention(s) behind the behavior(s) that one seeks to change (usually an undesirable trait of behavior). Alternatives to satisfy the positive intent are found, followed by negotiations with (parts of) self to resolve conflict, check for ecology and to implement the new behavior(s).Reframing is also used in neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) to describe changing the context or representation of a problem. More precisely, one of the most effective techniques for achieving almost any desired change in NLP is the " six step re-frame". ...more on Wikipedia about "Reframing (NLP)"

(Representational Systems) When we think about the world or about our past experiences we represent those things inside our heads. For example, think about the holiday you went on last year. Did you see a picture of where you went, tell yourself a story about what you did, feel the sun on your back and the wind in your hair? Can you bring to mind the smell of your favourite flower or the tast of a favourite meal? ...more on Wikipedia about "Representational Systems"

The presupposition underlying the concept of submodalities which arose in the field of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), and particularly the work of its co-creator Richard Bandler, is that human beings code internal experiences using aspects of their different senses, or 'representation systems', or 'sensory modalities', or the way in which we experience the world through our senses . ...more on Wikipedia about "Submodalities"
