Dale R. Corson (b. 1914) was the eighth president of Cornell University. He received his bachelors from College of Emporia, Masters from the University of Kansas and his Ph.D. from University of California, Berkeley in 1938. Corson came to Cornell University in 1946 as an assistant professor of physics and helped to design the campus synchrotron. David J. Skorton (born November 22, 1949 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin); is an American medical scholar and academic administrator and is currently serving as the 19th president of the University of Iowa. He was named as the new president of Cornell University on Saturday, January 21, 2006 and is the second Cornell president to arrive directly from the presidency of the University of Iowa. Hunter R. Rawlings III, current interim president and 10th president of Cornell, was also president of Iowa from 1988– 1995.
