Growing up in the 1970s, Alton Miller soaked up the musical environment surrounding him in the Motor City, taking a particular interest in the sounds of Motown, Philadelphia, Parliament-Funkadelic, and Santana. It was during the early '80s once the " dance music crazed" Miller became friends with a young Derrick May that he decided to start spinning records, citing Chicago DJs such as Ron Hardy and Frankie Knuckles as prime influences. By the latter part of the same decade, Miller joined forces with George Baker and Chez Damier to start The Music Institute, a short-lived but legendary Detroit club that has since become near-mythical, thanks to the pioneering techno efforts of figures such as May. Following the demise of The Music Institute, Miller took an interest in Conga drumming in addition to DJing, which led to a period between 1989 and 1991 where he toured the world with his music. He then joined forces once again with May, first as an employee of the artist's Transmat Records label, then as Aphrodisiac, the title under which he would begin releasing his music. Besides his EP on Transmat's sublabel Fragile, he also released his music on Kevin Saunderson's KMS and a series of EPs on Serious Grooves. By the mid to late '90s, he had increased his presence in the Detroit area through a number of DJ performances and a stream of stunning twelves. ...more on Wikipedia about "Alton Miller"

Chip E. (Producer, Remixer, DJ, DVD Author, Filmmaker, Director, Editor, Artist) stage alias for Irwin Larry Eberhart II, a Chicago native, born in 1966. Attended St. Ignatius College Prep, Kenwood Academy, Columbia College and DePaul University. He started spinning records in 1982, by 1984 he was producing records. In 1985 Street Mix magazine declared Chip E. as the "Godfather of House Music". In 1987 he became the first (and still the only) Chicago artist to be in regular rotation on all 3 major Chicago radio stations (WBMX, WGCI, B96). Former B96 programming manager Joe Bohannon (Joe Bo) made the decision to add "If You Only Knew" to regular rotation and with that began the transition of the station from CHR (contemporary hit radio) to a Dance Music station. Chip E. took DJ/Remixer Frankie Knuckles under his wing when he co-produced Frankie’s first record "You Can’t Hide". Other artists Chip jump started into the music world were Liddell Townsel, Kevin Irving, and Harri Dennis of "The It". By the age of 21 Chip E. was a world wide name. Because of difficulties getting out of a contract with D.J. International records, Chip decided that he would rather not record if he had to do it for D.J. International. His first release "Jack Trax" is one of the most coveted early House Music releases, fetching upwards of $500.00 (USD) on eBay. Although he does the rare DJ gig in Britain or Italy, to quote Sean Bidder’s book "House – The Rough Guide", Chip E. has moved into "the realms of mythology". However, Chip E. has recently resurfaced as a film and DVD guru. Besides work with artists such as Michael McDonald, Fleetwood Mac, Prince, The Dead, and Black Eyed Peas, Chip has produced a feature length documentary on the subject of House Music. The documentary is titled "The UnUsual Suspects - Once Upon a Time in House Music". ...more on Wikipedia about "Chip E."
