Scottish judges Adam Lord Gifford ( 1820- 1887) was a Scottish judge, born in Edinburgh. He had a large practice as a barrister, and realised a considerable fortune, which he bequeathed towards the endowment of four lectureships on Natural theology in connection with each of the four universities in Scotland; he was a man of a philosophical turn of mind, and a student of Spinoza.
