*Harry Mason, born in 1954, is a writer and a single father. Seven years before the start of the game, Harry and his terminally ill wife found an infant abandoned at the side of the road near Silent Hill. They adopted the girl and named her Cheryl. After his wife's death, Harry continued to raise Cheryl alone. In the fall of 1986, Harry and Cheryl went to Silent Hill for a vacation. As they neared town, Harry's jeep left the road when Harry swerved to avoid a pedestrian. Upon waking after the crash, Harry found himself alone in Silent Hill and on a quest to find his lost daughter. Along the way, Harry learned the truth: that his daughter was connected to a cult operating in Silent Hill and she was part of a grand scheme by the cult to give life to a demon. Harry was able to defeat the demon and before he escaped, he was given a new infant girl.
