Spacecraft The Advanced Multi-Mission Operations System (AMMOS) is a common set of services and tools created by the Interplanetary Network Directorate, a division of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, for use in JPL's operation of spacecraft. These tools include a means by which mission planning and analysis can be undertaken, as well as developing pre-planned command sequences for the spacecraft. AMMOS also provides a means by which downlinked data can be displayed and manipulated, including key mission telemetry such as readings of temperature, pressure, power, and other critical indicators. This common toolset allows space missions to minimize the cost of developing operations infrastructure, which is very important in light of recent restricted spending by space agencies. ...more on Wikipedia about "Advanced Multi-Mission Operations System"
A lander is a type of spacecraft which descends to come to rest on the surface of an astronomical body. For bodies with atmospheres, the landing is called re-entry and the lander re-entry vehicle. In this case landers employ aerobraking and parachutes to slow down, often with small landing rockets which fire just before impact to bring the lander to rest relatively gently. The Mars Pathfinder mission also used inflatable airbags to cushion the lander's impact. ...more on Wikipedia about "Lander"

A re-entry vehicle is a lander vehicle used in space missions to re-enter Earth's atmosphere safely. This usually requires much heat shielding, due to the high temperatures caused by friction with the air. ...more on Wikipedia about "Re-entry vehicle"
A spacecraft is a vehicle that travels through space. Spacecraft include robotic or unmanned space probes as well as manned vehicles. The term is sometimes also used to describe artificial satellites, which have similar design criteria. ...more on Wikipedia about "Spacecraft"
