Star Fox characters Star Fox characters is a fictional character from the Star Fox series of video games. He was created by Takaya Imamura. As his name implies, he is a fox (although anthropomorphized), and the protagonist of the Star Fox series; despite confusion that he was originally understood to be a human whose name was Fox, Imamura has since made it clear that he is indeed a fox. According to Star Fox 64 Player's Guide, Fox's image was modeled after the Japanese god Inari's foxes ( kitsune), though they are white while McCloud bears Red Fox markings. Krystal is a fictional anthropomorphic vixen from the Star Fox series of video games. She first appeared in Star Fox Adventures as a playable character at the beginning of the game, and shortly thereafter got reduced to a damsel in distress. She is now the newest member of the Star Fox team, and is also a playable character in the multiplayer mode of Star Fox: Assault. Andrew Oikonny is the evil nephew of Andross, the main villain of the Star Fox series. In the cancelled Star Fox 2, his Japanese name is Algy, but when translated it is still Andrew. Andrew's surname may be a pun on the word "oink"; in the Nintendo Power comic, his uncle Andross had several connections with pigs (his foster parents were pigs, and Andross himself later constructed an android pig named Herbert).
