Herbert Kornfeld, a.k.a. H-Dog, is a recurring fictional columnist for the parody newspaper The Onion. He is the accounts receivable ("A.R.") supervisor for the fictional Midstate Office Supply, "tha largest an' dopest retaila an' distributa' of office supplies in tha whole muthafuckin' state". While appearing like a nerdy white bespectacled male, his columns are written in ebonics, with a heavy gangsta rap flair. Kornfeld is a workaholic, frequently spending his time off downtown doing "illegal" unsolicited bookkeeping. His best friend and mentor was fellow accountant CPA-ONE, who was killed while in minimum-security prison by a fellow inmate who fired a tennis ball machine at him from point-blank range on the prison tennis court. Kornfeld usually keeps the "Letter Opener of Death" close by to fend off rival accounting gangs. His 2-year-old son Tanner (a.k.a. "Baby Prince H Tha Stone Col' Dopest Biz-ook-kizeepin' Muthafuckin' Badass Supastar Kornfeld Tha Second") is the result of a relationship with Agnes in the Cash Room. Kornfeld has an ongoing feud with Myron Schabe, "tha Accountz Payabo supervisa," whom Kornfeld often derides as a "geeza". Kornfeld frequently refers to his car, a 1981 Buick Regal, as the " Nite Rida" (sometimes spelled "Nite Ridahh"). ...more on Wikipedia about "Herbert Kornfeld"
Born in 1968, Yakov Itzhak Szwergold (Jack Szwergold) was raised by his Polish/ Jewish immigrant parents (Miriam and Hersz) in the modest Brooklyn seaside neighborhood of Brighton Beach. Unlike Neil Simon's idyllic vision of Brooklyn life--or the current "Odessa by the Sea"/ Russian enclave it has become--Brighton Beach in the 1970s and 1980s was a distinctly New York City working class neighborhood of mixed race brought together by lower-middle class economics. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. ...more on Wikipedia about "Jack Szwergold"
Jean Teasdale is a fictional columnist of the satirical newspaper The Onion. She is an extreme example of a lamestress (female lamester) with kitsch tastes. Her column "A room of Jean's own" addresses such banal topics as her love of chocolate, her love of plush toys, and her love of Precious Moments figurines. Another major topic of her columns is husband Richard Teasdale, or "Hubby Rick", to whom she bemoans her childless state. The NASCAR-loving Rick is nothing like Jean, and in fact routinely mocks his wife. The two were actually forced into marriage after they had sex, in what Jean cheerfully described as a "machine gun wedding." ...more on Wikipedia about "Jean Teasdale"
