Burgess Falls State Park and Natural Area, located near Cookeville, is a state park in central Tennessee, USA. It is situated on the eastern edge of the Highland Rim, near the Cumberland Plateau. This geography provides sheer bluffs, narrow ridges, turbulent rivers and streams, and abundant woodlands. The Falling Water River flows through the park, and features many scenic waterfalls along its course. The park's main attraction, Burgess Falls, is between 60 and 70 ft. (20 to 25 m) in height. William Earl Webb ( September 17, 1897 - May 23, 1965) was an American right fielder in Major League Baseball, playing from 1925 to 1933. He played for a number of teams, including the Boston Red Sox for 3 years. He was born in Bon Air, Tennessee and died in Jamestown, Tennessee. As of 2005, he holds the record for most doubles in a season with 67 in 1931 with the Red Sox. He had a career batting average of .306 with 56 home runs, averaging 14 a year. Situated at the confluence of the Collins and Caney Fork Rivers, the park's most prominent feature is the Great Falls of the Caney Fork.
