After the Spirit Detective Saga, the Dark Tournament Saga begins as it is discovered that the Toguro Brothers had purposely faked their deaths during Yusuke Urameshi's mission to rescue Yukina. They also find out that Yusuke must participate in the Dark Tournament in order to learn more about multi-millionaire Sakyo's elaborate plan threatening humanity. After training for months, Yusuke along with his team including Kazuma Kuwabara, Hiei, Kurama, and the unknown Masked Fighter enter Hanging-Neck Island where the Dark Tournament was to take place. The Dark Tournament is held once every 50 years for the amusement of the richest. Demons are brought from Makai to battle among themselves, as well as against any "guests" (who really do not have much choice but to participate). Each team has a manager, who usually places a bet on the victory of his team. The Spirit Detective Saga marks the beginning of the anime YuYu Hakusho. It begins with a 14 year-old boy called Yusuke Urameshi who sacrifices his life to save a small child from being run over. Once dead, Yusuke is greeted by the grim reaper, a bubbly girl named Botan who takes him to the Spirit World. There, he meets a 500-year old ruler with the body of a toddler called Koenma.
